Residential Permits Zones

Resident and Business Permits

The Isle of Wight Council (Residents’ Parking Places) Order sets out the eligibility criteria for Resident Zone parking permits. The order stipulates that up to two permits can be issued to a resident (who is also the owner of the vehicle) whose normal place of abode is within a road specified in Schedule 1 of the above order.

The Isle of Wight Council also allow Business’ situated within a parking zone to apply for a maximum of two permits per business/postal address.

When issued, the permit will allow parking within the designated bays of the relevant parking zone. These bays are denoted by signage with the name of the zone stated; the permit cannot be used in any other limited waited or pay and display parking bay. Application process - Resident

  • Read the terms and conditions of the permit before completing the application form.
  • You must provide a copy of your current Council Tax Bill or your Council Tax reference number as proof of residence.
  • You must provide a copy of your V5 or vehicle registration document as proof of ownership, however if you are renewing your permit and the vehicle registration mark remains the same you do not need to supply proof of ownership.
  • Please note: If the vehicle is a lease/company vehicle, you must provide a copy of the vehicle ownership along with a copy of the lease agreement or a letter from your employer confirming that the vehicle is for your sole personal use.
  • When you have completed the application form please email it along with the required evidence to parking.services@iow.gov.uk alternatively you can post it and the required evidence to:
    Parking Services, PO BOX 239, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 9FQ.
  • Payment must be made before a permit can be issued. If a cheque is not enclosed with your permit application we will telephone you to take payment. You will need a debit or credit card.

 

Application process - Business

  • Read the terms and conditions of the permit before completing the application form.
  • You must include a copy of your current Non Domestic Rates Bill or your Non Domestic Rates reference number as proof of Business Rates.
  • When you have completed the application form please email it along with the required evidence to parking.services@iow.gov.uk alternatively you can post it and the required evidence to:
    Parking Services, PO BOX 239, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 9FQ. 
  • Payment must be made before a permit can be issued. If a cheque is note enclosed with your permit application we will telephone you to take payment. You will need a debit or credit card.

 

Further information

Please note: that reminder letters are not sent. You must ensure that you apply for your permit with sufficient time to enable us to verify any documentation and to take payment. We endeavour to process all applications within 7 days.

Your vehicle will not be covered for parking until payment has been taken and the permit issued.

For security reasons, please do not send any payment card details through the post or by email

Resident Zone Visitors Permits

Only a resident of a road specified in the relevant Parking Order may apply for, and be issued visitor permits to allow visitors to park their vehicles whilst visiting the resident at the eligible address. A maximum of 5 books per quarter will be issued.

Application process

  • Read the terms and conditions of the permit before completing the application form.
  • You must include proof of residence with your application form. All documents relating to proof of residence must be clearly dated within the previous three months, and show your current name and address to be within the specified zone (photocopies are advised as we cannot guarantee the safe return of originals).  Acceptable documents are: Dated Bank/Building Society correspondence, Council tax correspondence, Utility bill (gas, water, electricity), Telephone Bill.
  • When you have completed the application form please email it along with the required evidence to parking.services@iow.gov.uk alternatively you can post it and the required evidence to:
    Parking Services PO BOX 239, Newport, Isle of Wight, PO30 9FQ.  
  • Payment must be made before a permit can be issued. If a cheque is not enclosed with your permit application we will telephone you to take payment. You will need a debit or credit card.
  • Permits applied for by email/post will be sent first class by recorded delivery. There will be a £2.40 charge to cover the postage costs.
  • Please note: the application form can be downloaded, completed and taken to selected libraries across the Island for permits to be issued immediately:
