Welcome to the Isle of Wight Crematorium

It is hoped that the rural woodland setting of the Crematorium will provide visitors with a haven for quiet contemplation and remembrance.

Crematorium Open Day 18 August 2018 10am to 4pm

The aim of the open day is to invite the many bereavement service groups working on the island, both professional and voluntary enabling visitors to gain an improved awareness of help, not only at times of bereavement but also the support available in the day’s week both prior and following a loss of a loved one.

The open day allows the island community to have unrestricted access in a relaxed and informal atmosphere to all areas of the crematorium buildings and grounds, whilst giving people a chance to meet friendly, knowledgeable staff from all bereavement service areas, discussing and asking the many questions they may have about cremation, burial, the loss of a loved one and making funeral arrangements.

Feedback from previous years open days has shown that visiting and talking to the many bereavement service areas has helped the many visitors who have attended these events, dispel and resolve the many myths and anxieties they have heard about the processes of cremation and burial.

As a way of marking the open day Bereavement services would like to support the islands hospice, The Earl Mountbatten Hospice in trying to raise as much money for them as possible enabling them to continue the invaluable work they undertake caring for people that require the care and support needed as a result of live threatening and terminal illness.
