Philo Cafe Thursday June 4th - 7pm - 9pm

Cowes Library will be hosting it's next Philo Cafe from 7 - 9pm.  This is a Supporters of Cowes Library event, sponsored by the Society for the Furtherance of Critical Philosophy (www.sfcp.org.uk).  It is open to anyone who would like to take part in philosophical discussion that matters in our lives, but in a casual way. No knowledge of adademic philosophy is needed.  Subjects that will be discussed are:  'Are there unselfish acts?' and/or 'What is a community?' depending upon numbers attending.

Refreshments will be provided.

Jungle Adventures! Saturday 13th June - 2pm - 4pm

Cowes Library is celebraring National Bookstart Week with a special storytime and craft activities for the under 6s. This event is free and there is no need to book. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Isle of Wight Festival of the Sea!

'Singing at the Sea' Monday 22nd June - 7pm - 9pm

'Brighstone Barnacles' and 'Guith' will be performing live music at the Library.  Come along and enjoy sea shanties and folk songs.

Refreshments will be available.

'Smugglers on the Isle of Wight' Monday 29th June - 6.30pm - 8pm

Mark Southwell, Operations Manager at Cowes RNLI Lifeboat Station will be giving a talk about 'Smugglers on the Isle of Wight'.

Refreshments will be available.

'O.R.P Grom' Exhibition to commemorate 75 years since the Polish war ship's sinking

Cowes Library is currently the location for the Friends of the ORP Blyskawica Society's Exhibition on the Samuel White's built O.R.P Grom, which shows images and history ranging from it's building to it's sinking and it's wreckage.  

Decade of Change 1910 to 1920 Exhibition

Cowes Heritage Group currently has part of their 'Decade of Change' Exhibition in the Library and will be constantly changing throughout the year showing information about the Great War and other factors during this momentous decade, which meant life in Cowes, Northwood and Gurnard would never be the same. The exhibition can be seen during normal opening hours.
