The Island Learning Centre will move to the former Hunnyhill Primary School site, Albany Road, Newport.

Future of the Island Learning Centre

Following the fire at the Island Learning Centre on 17 July 2015, Isle of Wight Council teams, together with colleagues from Hampshire and the Island Learning Centre have agreed an, initially, short-term solution for relocation of the school to ensure that operations can continue in the Autumn term.  From September, the school will be located at the former Hunnyhill Primary School, Albany Road in Newport.

The Fire Service has responded to a fire at the Island Learning Centre, Manor Road, Lake

Fire at Island School

A fire was reported at the Island Learning Centre, Manor Road, Lake (on the site of the former Broadlea Primary School) at around midnight on the morning of 17 July 2015.  The fire service has responded and the fire is now under control; the site is being dampened down. 

There are no reported injuries. 

Teams will be on site to assess the scene and secure the site later this morning.

Today is the last day of term.  Pupils and parents are advised not to visit the site today as the Island Learning Centre will be closed.

The fire at the Island Learning Centre at Lake is extinguished. Fire investigations have begun to ascertain the cause of the fire; fire and police investigators remain on site as part of the ongoing investigation.

The number of two-year-olds accessing Early Years Education Entitlement on the Isle of Wight has increased dramatically. Of those eligible, 71.5% are either attending a nursery provision or childminder setting. This is a significant rise from the previous 40%.
